Development Intern
Allied Arts is seeking an early career professional interested in a development career with an engaging, fundraising focused experience within our organization to gain an understanding of how a nonprofit organization operates in addition to the day-to-day responsibilities of a development professional.
The intern position will work closely with the Development Team and entire staff to assist with responsibilities that directly support fundraising efforts, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:
· Organize essential donor assets for Employee Giving campaigns
· Research current and potential companies, foundations and individual donors
· Assist in the execution of donor stewardship and solicitation, including the distribution of Step-Up Artwork plus mailing of thank you notes and solicitation letters
· Solicit lower-level donors via phone and/or email
· Represent Allied Arts at nonprofit fairs and booths
· Present on behalf of Allied Arts on the impact of the organization
· Create marketing materials using Canva as needed
· Assist with data entry in Allied Arts CRM, Salesforce
· Research the financial health and review assets of nonprofit grant candidates, including Form 990s, Charitable Registration Statuses, and others as seen fit.
· Solicit and organize silent auction items for Allied Arts fundraising events
· Track event attendance and prepare guest nametags
· Provide event support with miscellaneous tasks as needed, such as event set-up, assemblingprops, creating displays, etc.
The candidate should have:
- Six months to one year of current office experience or
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior or
- Recent graduate (if you are a recent graduate, we will expect a commitment through internship semester)
Candidate has a strong sense of accountability; a practical ability to get things done; wisdom and good judgment; a fair and thoughtful approach to management, combined with the flexibility and courage to shift direction and experiment with new initiatives; a high energy level and sense of humor.
Working in a professional, team-focused environment, employees must regularly be able to identify, observe and assess items, information, and objects in an office setting. Teamwork is critical to our success and employees are regularly required to communicate clearly in various settings.
Regular business hours are from 8:30 – 5:00 M-F, with occasional off-site events requiring additional time on nights, weekends, and early mornings. All internships require a minimum of 180 hours per semester and approximately 16 hours per week spent in the office until completion of internship. Preference may be given to students willing to commit to two semesters. Please consider school, extracurricular activities, and personal obligations before applying. We allow students to be very involved in creating their schedule, so we expect you can commit to the required time spent in the office.

Employees must occasionally transport and/or move up to 25 pounds. Utilizes multi-limb coordination to balanceon even or uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand and walk, reachover shoulders or below the knees. Must hold a valid driver’s license, good driving record, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation (some local travel may be required).
