COVID-19 Arts Relief Fund
Allied Arts Emergency Relief Fund
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on our network of cultural nonprofits. They have lost significant income with the cancellation of major festivals, fundraising events and entire seasons. Based on information gathered by Allied Arts, it is projected that the financial impact of the pandemic on our network of agencies totals more than $10 million to date. As a result, many of our arts groups have begun laying off important members of their team, with some organizations losing two-thirds of their entire staff composition.
In response to the economic impact of COVID-19 on central Oklahoma’s cultural community, Allied Arts launched the Central Oklahoma Arts Relief Fund in April to help arts nonprofits navigate short- and long-term challenges. Allied Arts seeded the fund with $100,000 and has raised more than $53,000. In four grant cycles, Allied Arts has awarded more than $153,000 in funding to 28 cultural nonprofits. Because of limited funds, only seven requests were fully funded and $137,000 more is needed to make the remaining requests whole.
It is imperative that we continue to raise dollars for the relief fund as the financial impact increases. Summer camp enrollment – a significant revenue generator for many arts groups – has decreased; fall seasons have been cancelled; and fundraising events rescheduled for later in the year have been postponed again.
Grant applications for the Central Oklahoma Arts Relief Fund have closed.
