2022 Campaign for the Arts
The Allied Arts 2022 campaign for the arts has kicked off to raise vital funding for central Oklahoma’s cultural nonprofit landscape. Chaired by Sody and Robert Clements, the campaign aims to raise more than the $3.6 million generated in last year’s fundraising effort. The 2022 Honorary Chairs are Cathy and Phil Busey, founders of El Sistema Oklahoma which provides free, afterschool music lessons for children from low-income families.
During the first week of the program, participating children select their top three instruments of interest and receive an instrument to keep as their own. In addition to music theory and rehearsal, the students learn the importance of discipline, perseverance and teamwork. One student who had never touched a musical instrument before El Sistema Oklahoma turned his life around – graduating high school and being the first in his family to attend college. Music and all art forms transform lives!
With COVID-19 continuing to affect the fundraising, programming and operations of cultural nonprofits, activities that are at the core of our arts network’s mission – increasing access to the arts – are also the endeavors that do not generate revenue, like blockbuster exhibits or Broadway productions. Allied Arts is committed to providing critical support and resources to ensure that Oklahoma schoolchildren, the elderly, hospitalized, disabled and veterans benefit from the power of the arts.

Campaign funds are directed to more than 40 cultural nonprofits annually. In the 20-21 fiscal year, Allied Arts awarded grants to 43 member agencies and grantees. In turn, these agencies reached more than one million people with art exhibits, performances, festivals, classes, film screenings and more. Furthermore, more than 460,000 arts experiences were delivered to Oklahoma school-aged children.
You can play a part by making a donation today! Here’s how:
A $50 donation provides one pair of ballet slippers for two low-income students to dance afterschool in a safe place where they can be active and receive mentorship.
A $100 contribution offsets the cost of renting a school bus to transport a Title I classroom to a museum which brings Oklahoma history to life.
A $250 donation enables one student from a financially disadvantaged family to enroll in a summer musical theatre camp – because every child deserves the opportunity to shine on stage.
A $500 donation provides 1,000 afterschool music lessons to low-income, at-risk kids.
A $1,000 contribution underwrites one healing arts class for veterans and their families.
